BLOGGING: Images - Do you need them?
Pictures... The eye candy of a blog. IMO if you're in the wedding industry you 've got to have photos. They can easily depict your product if you have a tangible item you produce or set up. For those like DJs and Officiants it's a bit trickier but showing the emotions of the bride and groom and very often the response of their guests can show the viewer the result of the service you provide.
I purposely chose not to add any photos or images to this page just to show you how boring a post with no photos looks.
Where should you get pictures from? Basically there are three choices:
1. Take them yourself
2. Get them from a friend or colleague
3. Copy them from the internet - with permission from the copyright holder. Unless it is marked as such that you are free to use you will most likely infringe on the copyright holders rights without a release or license to copy and use their work.
Personally I like to take as many of the photos I use on my blog as possible. I even did a recent post about the camera I use.
RAQ (Recently Asked Question)
Question:
What is the trick to copying images from other sites to post on yours to blog about them? I have seen it done a gazillion times but when I went to "copy" and "paste" on my blog post it just did not work. Do you have step-by-step on that?
Answer:
You would need to upload the images to your blog server to add them to your post.
You can copy and paste the image you wish to copy into a photo editing file to create a copy of the image, or simply click on it and drag a copy off of the existing page releasing the button on your mouse once your cursor is over your desktop or a folder.
I would assume that Wordpress is like Blogger in that at that point you would somehow select an "add image" option while you are creating your post. Most likely an image uploader will appear and you can select the image you want from off of your own computer. Once you submit the file it should appear on your blog.
