And this is how I did it. It was so simple. I went to the craft store and purchased a pre-cut wooden disc the same diameter as her Limoge piece. I then drilled 4 holes into the disc turning it into a giant button. I used acrylic craft paint to copy the color palette and design of the details on the porcelain cake. I made the silk cushion and sewed the wooden disc into place just like a giant button. I suggested that the Limoge piece could be attached one of two ways:
1. Using hot glue or epoxy as a permanent attachment.
2. Or what was in my opinion the better choice, using earthquake wax as the Limoge could then be removed after the wedding in case they didn't want to keep the box attached to the cushion.
The bride was thrilled to have her idea brought to fruition. I was reminded of this piece when I stumbled upon the photo recently. The concept could work with a multitude of ornaments. Just wanted to share it with you in case you were thinking of doing something other then a flower or bow on your ring cushion. Be imaginative, be unique, have fun!
