Married in October of 2007 Stacie was the quintessential Flirty Bride and used her own wedding as an opportunity to bring to life her vision of what a flirty bride is, and how much fun she should have, both planning her own wedding and at the wedding itself.

DIY Ribbon Flowers

Share |

Years ago I purchased the book "The Artful Ribbon" and learned how to make these ribbon flowers.

Some are the standard patterns found in the book others I added additional borders or combined different patterns to create flowers with more dpeth. So what you can you use them for? For starters you can make corsages, bridal, bridesmaids and flower girl hair ornaments or even a bouquet. They can embellish gowns, ring cushions, shoes and as a guest you could even make a few to add to the gift wrap to embellish the wedding gift.

Part of what makes them unique is the type of ribbon you use to create them. From modern mass produced ribbon to vintage ribbon and trims there are many possibilities. If you add other items like silk flowers or velvet leaves you can create something dowright yummy looking.

The Artful Ribbon

This is the book by Candace Kling. If you enjoy handwork pick up a copy. It's addictive once you get going. You may have noticed these are the same flowers I used on the back of my own wedding gown and on our ring cushion.

The possibilities are endless!

Hi Anita,

All of the diagrams with instructions about how to make these basic flowers are in the book titled "The Artful Ribbon" by author Candace Kling.

Some of them I improvised by adding an additional ruffle but the 5 petal flower, ruffled rose, double ruffled rosette and berry bud center are all in the book.

I found this one online tutorial about how to make a ruffled rose that might be helpful:
