The other day I was reading Wedding Coordinator Jean Marks' blog and saw these great photos of a bride and groom who rented an "Aunt Lali's" ice cream truck for their wedding reception. It arrived at Nestldown much to the surprise of all of their guests. The bride donned an apron and served up the frozen treats with her groom and I thought to myself: Now that's flirty!

I'd been wanting to do a post about food truck receptions and this was just the push I needed.

I read the news, a lot, and had been reading articles about how San Francisco is undergoing a new wave of gourmet street food vendors unlike any the city has ever seen before. It made me think, it would be a lot of fun to have a wedding reception where guests are promised an international buffet with a twist. Imagine their surprise when the reception begins and the bride and groom lead them to the parking lot in front of their venue where several food trucks are set up to accommodate their requests. And we're not just talking tacos and hot dogs!

Falafels Anyone?

How funs is this? Liba is a Falafel truck that has two locations up in San Francisco. Both tasty and healthy, falafels would be a fun alternative to whatever the usual meat free wedding meals are. If you have a lot of vegan or vegetarian friends this would be a great choice!

I'm sure some companies would require a minimum fee to show up. But if they are willing to just show up and charge their normal fees I'm thinking it would be cute to give your guests fake money to use to pay for their choices at each truck, then have someone who can cash out the vendors for real money at the end of the meal.You could design your very own super cute "Reception Bucks" and place an envelope at each place setting. Or if you're having a casual park or backyard wedding simply have someone hand each guest an envelope of funny money as they leave the ceremony.

French food from a truck? Seriously! Spencer on The go brings upscale elegance to what was traditionally a low brow dining experience. So imagine having taco, falafel and French food trucks at your reception... And imagine an ice cream truck rolling up at the end of the meal... Or a creme brulee cart... So cute right?

Hey, that's me...the bride! I just have to say that I selfishly wanted an ice cream truck because I hate cake, and the kid in me always loved that elusive ice cream truck! Everybody loved it! I saw grandparents devouring 3 servings of its-its! It is the one thing that people are still talking about! "...yeah you know, the girl who had an ice cream truck at her wedding". If that's the one thing I'm known for, I'll take it ;)
