Married in October of 2007 Stacie was the quintessential Flirty Bride and used her own wedding as an opportunity to bring to life her vision of what a flirty bride is, and how much fun she should have, both planning her own wedding and at the wedding itself.

Sweet Dreams Sachet

Request a Flirty Idea

Share |

The Bride asked for a favor that can be given away at the reception with the theme of the wedding being "Dreams do Come True."

Here is a the Flirty Idea I came up with. There are many variables that can help keep the cost and effort down or if the budget and time allow, the finished favor can be more detailed and quite elegant.

Sachet Favor Idea

I used some dupioni silk I had on hand to sew little pillow cases on my sewing machine They're pretty easy to make since they're just straight lines. To create the pillow forms to slip inside of them I used plain white cotton that can be filled with potpourri. If you aren't a sewer this could be a great project for a friend or family member who want to help out and know basic sewing skills. If the budget allows a seamstress can be hired to create the cases and pillow forms.

For the filling I'm thinking for women lavender or rose potpourri and for the men cedar shavings would be nice choices for stuffing the pillow form.

Also, I'd mash up larger leaves or petals so that the pillows don't look lumpy.

If you want to keep the cost down cotton could be used instead of silk for the cases.

Here are my mini pillow sachets. Now how to display them...

I was thinking it would be super cute to fold the napkins like tiny beds to tuck the pillows into. For a quick and easy finish a small mint like the kind a hotel puts on your pillow at turn down could be a fun way to carry the theme through.

Here's a fun and fancier idea. This is a menu card topped off with a mini illustration. You could use an illustration or photo of yourselves to create the same, tucked into bed, ready to dream sweet dreams kind of detail that is part of the top of your menu card.

To keep costs down you can print the cards yourself and cut them out by hand with scissors and an x-acto knife.

If the budget allows you can have them printed by a custom invitation company and have them professionally die cut to remove the background around the image of the person.

Cute would be to use an image of the groom for the male guests with one color of pillow case and the image of the bride with a different color pillow case.

And a more simple version. Simply tucking the menu card into the bed folded napkin also carries the theme across. In the sample shown here I used fancy corner cut scissors to make the the edges more decorative but a plain rectangle can also be used.

More Variations on this flirty idea:

• Use a rubber stamp, you could even have one custom made that says "Dreams Come True" or "Sweet Dreams," to stamp the words onto the pillow case if you want to forgo the mint or menu cards.

• Or use the mint only to evoke dream time and pass on the napkin fold and menu card.
